Day 5 A Perfect Day for Sport-Touring

Route: Walla Walla, WA to New Meadows, ID
GPS Tracks for the trip are posted here https://tworoads.shutterfly.com/pictures/40#37
Miles: 256
Total Time: 10:05
Total On Bikes: 4:44

An absolutely spectacular day both in terms of weather (about 66 and sunny all day), scenery (tracking with the Salmon River on the east side of Hells Canyon recreation area) and roads (lots of wonderful "sweepers" (long, easy curves).

Had to make another stop at a Napa store within the first hour of the trip to get locking nut for the temporary "bung plug" that I wrote about yesterday -- as the temporary one had also started to loosen. But once that repair was done -- it held tightly the rest of the day.

We decided to stop the little town in New Meadows -- and pulled into a small motel that looks like it's been here for most of the century. The desk clerk told us about a "special" $8 steak at the local bar -- and it turned out to be quite a find -- complete with salad bar and baked potato. People watching the locals in the place was probably worth the $8 even without the steak.

We're 120 miles north of the Boise Ducati dealer -- where we are headed in the morning!
